Waukewan Golf Club
Hole #18
The eighteenth hole is the last of the risk reward holes on the back nine. You cannot see the green from your tee box as the hole rises up a steep hill then flattens out to the green that is guarded by a water hazard in front. There is a mirror mounted on a pole behind the tee boxes to help sight whether there are golfers on the green. If you stand in the vicinity of the cart path as it turns from gravel to asphalt you will be able to see the green in the mirror. Your play off the tee should be to put your ball in front of the water hazard and chip onto the green but… let’s put that shorter club back in the bag again and go for the green for a chance at putting for eagle? Maybe? If you are going for the green you had better make sure that you have the distance. Missing short or a little left and your ball will find the hazard. Missing right you may be ok but may have to contend with tree obstructions getting to the green. Missing long will most likely find one of two bunkers behind the green.
If you laid up, there is not much to say about your second shot to the green other than keep it dry. This green is relatively flat but like the ninth green, has a number of undulations that can make for a difficult and challenging putt.
After you finish up, please visit with us in the Fairway Grille for a cold drink and let us know how you did! We would like to thank you for coming.
